Race Box
If you pick the picture above you will get the view of the Ribble Estuary from the Race Box.
Its real time and sends a picture to the website every two minutes. I have set a refresh on your web page to do the same so you can get an idea of the conditions on the estuary throughout the day without having to refresh your browser manually.
Web Cam .
The web camera faces due south toward Southport. If it is sunny the iris of the camera closes so it does look a bit dark unfortunately. Sometimes you get a Turner like sky scape picture and its really quite beautiful. The view over the Ribble is over marshland and a site of special scientific interest. Although the web cam cannot give fine detail you will see the flocks of bird life over the estuary, for example there is a large colony of Cormorants on the other side of the river. its best to see them by boat though. The web page you see has the image set to 75%. You can zoom in and out using cntl + or -. IE7 seems to do a good job of it. To return to the RCC web site use the top left navigation arrows.
